Learning Target:  Apply your creativity and knowledge of Illustrator to the 

creation of a school t-shirt OR a school yearbook cover

Why:  To create realistic projects like a graphic designer!

NEW:  Illustrator Animal Drawings
  • Create your own simple, colorful animal head and/or body with shapes
  • Copy and paste so you have three versions
  • Use the Effects tab to add creative and interesting designs to each
  • Post as #animalshapes


NEW:  School Project (Yearbook/T-shirt Designs)

Use your creativity, but the final product must be a realistic design for Timberline High 
School students, parents, families, and staff.
THS Yearbook Cover Design:


  • Discuss Yearbook Designs
    • Colors, themes, limitations
    • Timberline examples
  • Open New Document - 8.5” by 11” - paper size
  • Basic information:
    • School name
    • Name of Yearbook (Cairn)
    • School Year
    • Theme of Yearbook
    • Must be appropriate for a wide-audience
  • Yearbook must include the following elements:
    • Thoughtful theme
    • Picture/design
    • Original Logo
    • Consistent, readable fonts
Class and/or School T-Shirt Design
  • Discuss T-shirt design (show examples)
  • Open New Document - 11” by 11”
  • Basic information:
    • Graduation Year (2018, 2019, 2020)
    • Possibly Class Name? (Senior, Junior, Sophomore…)
    • Picture (logo or other)
    • Choose apparel color, type (grey hoodie, green shirt.. etc)
  • Design Requirements
    • All parts of the design must be appropriate (quotes, lyrics, etc)
    • Readable fonts (must be thicker fonts to print on a shirt)
    • Must be appropriate for a wide audience

Then, search Google Images "Business Cards." You'll see a large variety of cards 

and styles. There is no longer one-style-fits-all. People are getting creative and
